The Decker Family is on the mend....

"Life is what happens to you when your busy making other plans"

It seems life wrapped it's arms and every single finger around this little family, and held on tight! It has been a missssssserable past week. Brody and I both went to the doctor last Thursday. He was diagnosed with a pink eye and a double ear infection. I was diagnosed with a urinary tract infection. Little did I know that was just the beginning of what life had in store for me. Things seemed uncomfortable but livable thankfully I made it to my dear sis's baby shower. Then, Monday I woke up with body chills, body aches, nausea, cough, MASSIVE headache, soar throat, fever, no energy, AND the lovely UTI. hmmmm did I forget anything? Did I mention that I had a HEADACHE!!!! Okay so you get the point. I think I cried to my mom everyday of that miserable, horrible, terrible illness. I am finally feeling better today! I'm not quite 100% back to speed but I am actually feeling like I can take care of my own child. Thank you all for all your help and all the phone calls :) Broders took his last bit of antibiotics yesterday and appears to be doing quite well. He is just a busy little bee. Needless to say, we are back in blogger action! Just had to fill everyone in so you understood where I have been, why I haven't returned calls or emails.

I guess being that sick kind of puts things into perspective... things could be a lot worse! My mom-in-law stopped by this morning and we had a good conversation about getting back to the basics of life. Not getting caught in the hustle and bustle of this fast paced world. Taking it a bit slower and putting priorities back in order. Simplifying life. My energy started flowing to the sound of a simpler life. In all reality I really think my health has taken a toll from being on the fast track. Time to slooooow it down!!!! Oh, and I will cheers to that too! :)

Love you all.

Cory, I am so sorry that you were so ill for the rest of the weekend and week. You couldn't tell on Saturday though! Hopefully this will be the end of sickness for awhile for all of you (especially ear infections!). May you find the enjoyment in the simplicity of day to day life and remember to take a few minutes here and there for YOURSELF! We would love to see you again soon. Josie loves talking about Baby Brody, even though he is really not a baby anymore :)

Soooooooo glad to hear a little more life in your voice this morning and to know you are FINALLY feeling better! Just don't overdo it!
A simpler life sounds good to me. Why don't we all agree and then it will just have a ripple effect! :)

I have a book to loan you to read. I read it several years ago and really enjoyed it. It's called "In Praise of Slowness" by Carl Honore. Basically they say the Slow philosophy can be summed up in one word----balance.
And I love the quote "There is more to life than increasing its speed." Ghandi
Good luck on slooooooowing down.

You poor thing Cory...was it all because of the UTI? You and Brody have had more than your fair share of illnesses. Glad to hear you are feeling a little better, let me know if you need anything at all. Love you!

Ohhh Dear Cory, I was so glad to stop by and see you and Broders yesterday. Although I saw that you were not completely back to your old self, feeling 100% it was clear you were better. Broders on the other hand was "ready to go". He truly is becoming quite the "big boy" ready and eager to go somewhere, anywhere, to play! Thank goodness he has his old pal Charlie to entertain him (much to Charlie's dismay, and hair loss ).

I really enjoyed our visit and honestly think the philosophy of simplicity in life for all of us seems to be the ticket right about now. Seems this fast pace we have gotten caught up in has skewed priorities, dreams, hopes, desires, needs and wants. Could not have said it better than the "Ripple Effect" .
Love you guys,
Goonie

I had no idea! You covered it so well at the shower. I do hope you are on the mend and as the old saying goes, "slow down and smell the roses!" Kinda hard to do when you have a little one.
Love you.

Glad everyone is doing better. :) Sometimes it's good to just lock yourself away from everything for a few days. :) It does tend to help you slow down when you're up and kicking again...at least for a couple of days! :)
