To “let go” does not mean to stop caring, it means I can’t do it for someone else.
To “let go” is not to enable, but allow learning from natural consequences.
To “let go” is to admit powerlessness, which means the outcome is not in my hands.
To “let go” is not to try to change or blame another; it’s to make the most of myself.
To “let go” is not to care for but to care about.
To “let go” is not to fix but to be supportive.
To “let go” is not to judge but to allow another to be a human being.
To “let go” is not to be in the middle arranging all the outcomes but to allow others to affect their destinies.
To “let go” is not to be protective it’s to permit another to face reality.
To “let go” is not to deny but to accept.
To “let go” is not to nag, scold, or argue, but instead to search out my own shortcomings and correct them.
To “let go” is not to adjust everything to my desires but to take each day as it comes and cherish myself in it.

So my sister posted this on her blog today and it has touched me so much that I feel I need to post it on mine as well. I need to remind myself that I am not in control, that I am powerlelss. I have lost myself in the hopes of controlling what I am not in control of and it is time for me to find a healthy place again in this crazy world of uncertainty. I have to learn to "let go." So as I read this post I felt a little overwhelmed. There is soooo much information in this poem that I thought I would take it a sentence at a time.
So today,
To "let go" does not mean to stop caring, it means I can't do it for someone else.
Ahhh, these words feel sooo good. I cannot make others do something they do not or are not ready to do. I can still care but I am not in control of what others choose to do. I am only in control of my reactions and responses. I'll just repeat it cause it feels so good... :)
"I am not in control"
thanks for letting me get that out!

my heart feels so touched by your heart's desire to find a healthy place for YOU in this world of uncertainty, cory.....MY heart's prayer also....i love you so.
Doesn't that just feel like a weight off your shoulders? "I can still care...I just can't do it for someone else". We are, by no means, in charge of anything besides our thoughts, actions, reactions and responsibilities. What other people choose to do with their lives is completely out of out control and in no way was it ever IN our control. This fact just makes me want to "shake it off"...throw my shoulders and my body about as though I were covered in manure and trying to get every piece of it off of me! :) Maybe you should do that! :)
Love you sister!
It IS true that when someone's life is out of control it is very unlikely that we in ourself can get them back under control. That is when I turn to God in prayer and ask him to again take the reins of their life and guide them back to the path wherein they should be. They don't have the strength to help themselves but God does. That is why I believe and have proven to myself that "WHEN ALL ELSE FAILS, TURN TO GOD."
I've often wondered why we just don't turn to God in the first place instead of trying to do it in our own strength.

I loved that poem when I read it on Jess's blog, and I still love it. I am glad that you are allowing yourself to "let go" one step at a time. May your heart be a little more at peace today.
Cory,
Your strength never ceases to amaze me. I love the poem! Lets get together soon. Love ya sista!
To add to Grandpa's...
I think that a lot of us DO pray, but it's not always what we're praying for that God things is best for us. That's when the "letting go" comes in to play. :)
I say AMEN to what Jamie posted in this blog this morning. He may not answer our prayer in the manner in which we voiced it in prayer. He may answer it in a manner which takes a matter of time for us to grasp. That is where infinite wisdom comes in versus our human wisdom. And Thank God for that! GG
Cory, complete surrender is letting it all go "completely". Trusting in the fact that you KNOW God is GOOD. That what you pray for will be answered, even though you may not recognize the answer until you are further down the road of life. The fact that you simply KNOW it is NOT in YOUR hands, but rather Gods hands. That he has a plan far better designed for you then you could ever think to request, should give you some simple rest from the heavy burden you are trying to carry. Relinquish the job to HIM and he will see you through.
I love you,
Pam
I like this poem and it is even better when you take it verse by verse! It is very hard to just let go and put it all in someone else's hands, yet it feels so good when it is actually accomplished. I think the reason is that many times all of our energy is spent trying to fix the problem and giving it away is our last effort. Like in Jessie's blog I think that you have to ask yourself have I done all that I can do. If the answer is yes then take a deep breathe and know there is nothing else in your power. If the answer is no, then do what you can and let go. It is a long life to live with burden, sorrow and pain so take off the heavy coat and step into the sunshine!!!!:)
I like that thought....
"take off the heavy coat and step into the sunshine"
thanks britt
Cory,
I can hardly get through your 'let go' post... you'll never know the timing of coming across it and the power behind it for me.... you may have helped eliminate some of the horrible guilt that I have, and continue to carry about my situation. Thank you for posting this..and thank you for sharing. God's blessings to you.

what a wondrous idea to take it a sentence at a time. it is so powerful and meaningful and true. the best thing that you can do for yourself and for your little one is to be a healthy momma, person, being, soul...letting go is more difficult than i have been able to do, but i think if we keep trying, the better off we will be. good for you.
